Picture it: Toronto, 2008. I’ve met a wonderful man, and his birthday is fast approaching. He’s a big geek and I crochet, so naturally, I wanted to make him crocheted Borromean Rings. (Obvious, I know, but he totally didn’t see it coming.)
I found the instructions here.
To make Borromean Rings, you need the following items:
a crochet hook (2.5mm), a pair of scissors, a large-eyed needle, Duct tape, yarn (DK), flexible tubing, and newspaper.
Wait a sec, go back one… “flexible tubing”? Where on earth am I going to find that? Hmm, the hardware store? Maybe. I know, I’ll ask Dad! He shops at hardware stores!
So, I sent an e-mail to my Dad asking if he knew where I could buy some of that plastic tubing, and he replied with, “Your brother has about 100′ of it in his basement. Will that do?”
It was perfect, and so I show you this:

And a close up:

Charles loved them, so I count this as a success!
It just leaves one nagging question: Why did my brother have a hundred feet of flexible tubing in his basement? Actually, I don’t think I want to know…
