I spent several days researching this (for those who want a quick trip to the front of the line, knitting needles and crochet hooks are listed under "penetrating objects"). Crochet hooks are allowed, but pointy scissors aren't. I'm planning on buying some safety scissors on the way home from work tonight. In the event that they don't let me bring the hook on board, I have a back up plan that involves mailing to my parents whatever they won't let me take and reading a book. (or possibly knitting with pencils... not sure what the difference in danger is between knitting needles and pencils, but one can knit with both!) I had thought of that.
